2021 Andalucía Bike Race announces great news!

The next edition will unveil a new era as a UCI MTB Marathon Series race by returning to its pairs format.

Andalucía Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén will hold its eleventh edition from 20 to 25 April 2021. The most important national mountain bike stage race is occasionally delayed to its usual date - end of February - due to health situation of this year.

The next edition announces great news as the International Cycling Union (UCI) has chosen Andalucía Bike Race as one of the 8 world competitions to be part of the new Marathon Circuit, called UCI MTB Marathon Series, which will have a calendar of eight Top World events. There will only be two stage competitions, Andalucía Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén and Absa Cape Epic, while the remaining six will be in individual one-day format (https://www.uci.org/mountain-bike/calendar).

All of them have been selected by the UCI to be part of this new top category Marathon circuit. From Octagon Esedos, we congratulate the other seven races for having been elected and at the same time being road companions for this coming year 2021-2022, and forming this select group of only 8 competitions.

In this way, the International Cycling Union (UCI) awards and raises Andalucía Bike Race at the highest world level as the most important mountain biking stage race in Spain and the only one in Europe, after ascending to Hors Catégorie (SHC) last year and now awarding it a place in the UCI MTB Marathon Series. Thus, in two consecutive years, Andalucía Bike Race has reached the highest categories in cycling. For many years, we have been a reference at a national level, always maintaining the highest category and we continue in this line, maintaining our standard at the top of the UCI categories.

2021 Andalucía Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén details

2021 Andalucía Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén will continue to be - as it has been in its previous editions – of six stages, with a time trial and five marathon stages through the provinces of Jaén and Córdoba. It will continue to bring together both the national and international Mountain Bike Elite and amateur Mountain Bikers, maintaining the essence that has made it unique for 10 years.

After having been able to celebrate last February its tenth edition full of novelties and with the presence of many of the best Mountain Bikers in the world, the 11th edition will be in pairs, thus recovering its format of the first editions, after changing its format to individual in 2017.

Thus, the 2021 edition, which will be held in the fourth week of April, from Tuesday to Sunday, as it has been in the last two editions, will bring together the best mountain bikers in the world.

This new recognition by the UCI is being celebrated very positively from Octagon Esedos, the organizer company. "The next edition returns to the origins of Andalucía Bike Race in the pairs format, as we conceived it. In this way we are recovering our origins, those that have helped us to place Andalucía Bike Race at this high organizational level and recognized by the highest international cycling organization, the UCI.
