The 13th edition of the Andalucía Bike Race by GARMIN, which will be held from 27 February to 4 March 2023, and which will coincide with the 'Day of Andalusia' on Tuesday 28 February, will travel through the provinces of Jaén and Córdoba, as in all other editions.
One of the stages on the way to Córdoba will be in the Cordovan town of Rute, which will be present for the first time in what will be the 13th edition of the Andalusian race.
On Thursday 2 March, Rute will host the time trial stage (XCT), which since last edition has been moved to one of the intermediate stages to provide even more spectacle on the way to Córdoba, where the final stages of the competition will be held.
Rute is a municipality in the province of Córdoba, located next to Priego de Córdoba, where the event has been held on several occasions, and is 85 kilometres from Córdoba capital. Thus, it will be the stage that will join the province of Jaén with that of Córdoba.
Rute stands out because in 2020 the Junta de Andalucía declared it as a 'Tourist Municipality' thanks to its offer, heritage and gastronomy. In addition, it also stands out for its exponent in the well-known 'Belén de chocolate', which at Christmas time receives more than 70,000 visits.
Rute also offers various heritage and archaeological resources such as the ruins of the Castle of Rute el Viejo and the Castle of Zambra, both declared Sites of Cultural Interest in 1985.
It is one of the official venues of the Andalucía Bike Race by GARMIN as it is located in the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, where the Iznájar Reservoir, the largest in Andalusia, stands out. In this way, we will continue to get to know new areas of the province of Córdoba of great natural and scenic interest.
The 13th edition will once again be by pairs as has been the case in the last 2 editions, and the maximum number of registrations will be 400 pairs, with a total of 800 participants, which have been open since 14 July with a launch promotion for the first 50 pairs registered at 700 euros and with two free cycling waistcoats - with few places already available. Once these first 50 places have been filled, the registration price of €700 per couple will be maintained for 100 more couples, but without the waistcoats. From 12 December until 19 February, when registration closes, the price will be €800 per pair.
Entries will close on Sunday 19 February 2023 or until 800 entries are reached. Official registrations will be made through the official website, www.andaluciabikerace.com.
