Andalucía Bike Race by GARMIN 2024 presented in FITUR

The fourteenth edition of the race took centre stage at the booth of the Cordoba City Council on Thursday.

FITUR, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, with more than 200,000 visitors, was the perfect setting to present the fourteenth edition of the Andalucía Bike Race by GARMIN, an international event that will bring together the best riders in the world from 26 February to 2 March.

At midday on Thursday 25 January, the second day of the fair, public authorities and organisers met at the Cordoba stand, within the Andalusia pavilion, to present the most important details of the prestigious cycling event.

The presentation was attended by Marian Aguilar, President of Imdeco and Sports Delegate, and Isa Sánchez, General Director of Events and Sports Facilities of the Andalusian Regional Government. For his part, Aitor Jiménez, Event Director of Octagon Esedos and Race Director, thanked the Junta de Andalucía, main sponsor of the Andalucía Bike Race by GARMIN, for its longstanding involvement in the event and the delegates of Jaén and Córdoba, José Ayala and Eduardo Lucena, for their confidence in hosting the event in their provinces and municipalities.

Among the local representatives, we have been accompanied by; Franciscos Palomares, Mayor of Villafranca de Córdoba, and Rafael Ángel Moreno, Mayor of Adamuz.

Andalucía Bike Race by Garmin repeats the successful formula premiered in the 2023 edition and will have a double category: pairs and Open individual, thus opening the range of options for cyclists who do not find a partner or want to race individually.

In this 14th edition we will return to Bedmar in the province of Jaén and in the region of Sierra Mágina, 40 kilometres from the provincial capital, which we will visit from the second and third stages onwards. Bedmar is not unknown as it already held a stage in 2013, an edition that is remembered very mythical by the inclement weather where one of the stages was suspended as a precaution.

Stages 2 and 3 will start and finish in Jaén capital, and on the way to the province of Córdoba we will stop again in Villafranca de Córdoba - Adamuz where on this occasion we will ride many of the trails of this neighbouring town of Villafranca, and finally, we will arrive in Córdoba to the caliphal city to celebrate the last two stages on the 1st and 2nd of March.
Cordoba, one of the main protagonists of this event, will host the last two stages, something that is always a great attraction for the city, with long awaited sections in each edition such as the Fangorn Forest, the Vereda de Trasierra, El Reventón, Cerro Muriano, the ascent of Arrastraculos, the incredible trails of Santo Domingo, La Loma de los Escalones or the descent of Los Morales.
