Diego Rosa and Casey South win at the finish in Villafranca de Córdoba

Buff Megamo's dominance in the women's category continues with the third consecutive victory of Janina Wüst and Rosa Van Doorn.

Andalucía Bike Race by Garmin is moving full speed ahead with the fourth stage, already in the captivating lands of Cordoba. Starting in Villafranca de Córdoba, a regular stop of the Andalucía Bike Race together with the municipality of Adamuz, the cyclists have faced a route of 57.61 kilometres and 1,482 metres of elevation gain. Although there were no long climbs, the leg-breaking profile set the tone, giving no respite to the competitors throughout the stage.

In the elite men's category, the favourites rode in a compact bunch throughout the stage, with their sights set on tomorrow's Skoda Super Stage. With no skirmishes or strategic moves for the general classification, Diego Rosa and Casey South of Torpado Kenda Factory, who finished second on stage three, took advantage of the final kilometres to launch the final attack.

The Italian XCM champion and the Swiss rider have taken advantage of the demarcation, arriving alone in Villafranca de Córdoba and raising their arms under the finish arch. Rosa and South are having an upward performance, and although they are far from the overall lead, they could be the great protagonists in this final phase of the Andalucía Bike Race.

At 1'02", the group of favourites crossed the finish line, with Canyon Sidi MTB Team's Andreas Seewald and Marc Stutzmann in second and Wilier-Vittoria's Fabian Rabensteiner and Samuele Porro in third. The overall classification remains unchanged, with Rabensteiner and Porro in first position. Only 1'13" behind in second place are Seewald and Stutzmann of Canyon. A little further back, 3'42" in third place, are Wout Alleman and Hans Becking of Buff Megamo.

Rosa and South said at the finish "It's the first race we've done together, so it's strange because when you race with another teammate, you need to get to know each other better and it's getting better day by day".

In the women's category, it was a similar situation, with Buff Megamo's Janina Wüst and Rosa Van Doorn, who have a generous lead in the overall standings, managed to hold off the moves of the rival pairs. On the one hand, Cannondale ISB's Txell Figueras and Claudia Peretti were at the head of the group until a puncture by the Italian ended their stage chances. On the other hand, the duo formed by Irina Luetzelschwab (Team Bulls) and the Spanish XCM champion, Natalia Fischer (Scott Cala Bandida), finally showed the level they have.

The victory was, without surprises, for Wüst and Van Doorn, who with today's victory have now won three times. In second place, 1'03" behind, Luetzelschwab and Fischer achieved their first podium in this edition of the Andalucía Bike Race. Figueras and Peretti, after a remarkable comeback after the puncture, crossed the finish line at 2'54".

Wüst and Van Doorn expressed their feelings at the finish: "It was incredibly fast from the start, with a lot of attacks that we had to control at the head of the race. It was a very demanding day"

The general classification in the elite women's category remains unchanged in its positions, but the gap between the first three classified pairs has increased.
